[Track & Field] Buckwalter Runs Her Way to Gulf Shores, AL

Comments

Lacey Buckwalter, a senior from Sylvia, KS became the second Warrior of the Spring to qualify for the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in Gulf Shores, AL. Buckwalter earned her ticket to Gulf Shores by clocking in at 1:31:22 over the course of 13.1 miles Wednesday evening at the Chase'N The Cross Half Marathon. Buckwalter needed 7:01/mile pace to hit the B standard, and stuck very close to that over miles 1 – 9. Miles 10 and 11 gave her a bit of a tough time, but by mile 12 was looking very good again. Over the next 2 miles Buckwalter managed to find her rhythm again and closed out the race on a 6:58/mile pace.

Buckwalter currently holds school records in the 4x1600m relay, and the outdoor 5,000m. She will continue to train for the full marathon at Nationals, while running the 5k and 10k this spring at meets.

Buckwalter joins Isaac Ostrosky, a sophomore from Fredonia, KS who qualified for the NAIA National Meet in the javelin back on March 9th with a throw of 55.19m.
